Does anyone else agree?

that teams like collingwood and essendon and saints games are ALWAYS played on t.v

but teams like freo and hawthorn (who are going awesome!) never get played on tv?

its might just b me since i go 4 hawthorn but really i think they should be played more!

ohh and i no we are on tv 2nite btw
Does anyone else agree?
Yes. I agree with you.

Collingwood %26amp; Essendon - because of Eddie, Mick %26amp; Sheeds - now we'll see Essendon slip away on TV, due to Kevin leaving %26amp; as their ratings slide down the ladder with them.

I also note that the Collingwood supporters are as arrogant as ever when it comes to answering these type of questions.
Reply:Channel 7 has stuffed the free-to-air tv up a bit.. on Sunday's you used to get the live interstate (from victoria) game @ 1 and then a replayed match from 4-6... which worked just fine.

and sometimes you'd get Friday and/or Saturday nights live..

now, you see 4 games instead of 5 and none are live %26gt;:(

Besides, I'm a StKilda supporter and I've missed 1 game completely and had to watch 1 game on foxtel (at a pub) because the matches weren't shown on free-to-air tv. I go to the matches when the Saints play in Melbourne.. so I don't know how many are televised or not... but StKilda's interstate games never get shown on free-to-air tv.

I'm NOT trying to say that StKilda supporters are getting a hard deal (at all), btw... I can see your point.. with Hawthorn.

Showing more Fremantle games in Melbourne would be ridiculous!!
Reply:I know I have whinged about this before, but you all in Oz don't know how good you have it.

At least you get to see, YES SEE, see footy on television.

Here in America, we haven't had viewable television of footy since the 2005 Grand Final.

If I could see ONE game a week on television, I would sh*t myself. I would love to see Geelong in those games, but I would watch a country game if it was on here in Kansas.
Reply:Collingwood, Essendon and St Kilda seem to get the majority of the Friday night games which are always broadcast.

If a game isn't being screened live on free to air tv it is live on foxtel. Foxtel also shows every single game of the season (Not all live obviously).

But yes I agree.
Reply:I agree that they are always shown on TV and rightly so. They get the most viewers so of course they will show them in prime time.

I do have to mention that I was just watching Hawks vs Essendon on Ch 10.

btw, who would tune in to watch Freo anyways???
Reply:Collingwood get lots of games shown on T.V. The ANZAC day clash and The Queen's Bday game are the main ones.

Essendon and St. Kilda do get played on T.V. a lot as well. Sorta the same with Carlton and Geelong.
Reply:I agree with you, some teams are shown far more than others.

If you have only free-to-air TV then you miss out on a lot.

I have Foxtel but who wants to watch those pansy-boys of Collingwood prancing around?
Reply:if you get foxtel you will see between 4 and 6 games a week live depending on where you live

plus a replay of all 8 games in full

ch 7 and 10 are losers
Reply:100% agree

collingwood and essendon sure get a good deal.
Reply:Totally agree thats why I always tap The Footy Show on Thursday night so I can watch it on Friday while they are playing.
Reply:It's because teams like Collingwood and Essendon draw bigger viewing audiences. Lots of people watch these games, even if they are not supporting the teams playing. Also, the games that they pick to be on TV are not based on whether or not a team is doing well, they're based on who get's the biggest ratings for the TV network. Maybe next year Hawthorn will get more coverage, since they are earning more support this year. And by the way, Fremantle are not playing well, and they are a team with very little support in Melbourne, so of course they are not going to get the prime TV slots in Victoria.
