I am doing an essay on three authors and would like to know where should I start.?

I have three authors and thier stories and I have to wright on the three stories and find critics on the authors and do not know where to start looking for research for this essay. The stories are Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel hawthorn the the second is Where are you going, Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates., and the third is The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Any suggestions

The very FIRST thing to do is to come up with a thesis statement that will tie together what it is you plan to say about all three works. Then develop it from there.

For example, just off the top of my head (and this is total BS so don't use it), let's say that your thesis is that the protagonist in each story is a 'Christ figure.' You'd then spend a paragraph or two (or three) on each story, discussing why and using points from the story to validate your discussion. The final pargraph, the conclusion, would wrap it all up.

I suggest you avoid the internet. Go to a college library--there's all kinds of lit-crit books and journals there.
Reply:Go to google and get summarys of each story then find a critics review online and add it and throw a little of your own opinion in there just to let your teach. know you understand the stories.
Reply:Talk to your instructor. Tell him or her you're not sure how to approach this assignment. It's helpful to discuss your thoughts and what you've done up to this point.

Go to your school or local library and speak with a librarian. They can be very helpful when you need to locate research material.
Reply:Foremost, before you begin writing, get a dictionary. Secondly, you may want to spend a paragraph on each story explaining what each is about.

After this, you may want to draw some similarities or parallels between all three. You might do this on the basis of style, content or something else. However, I think that in the case of these three, the parallels will be quite obvious.

Lastly, point out that despite being similar in some ways, the stories are very different. For these differences, you might choose the intended audience or perhaps what you imagine the authors' intentions were for the reader.

Good luck.

These links are essentially the same, just choose the one that makes the most sense to you..!!!

The book report you write should be four paragraphs long. Remember to use correct conventions (margins, indent paragraphs, capitalization, punctuation etc.)
