Any frustrated North Melbourne fans after the umpires beat us in the Hawks game?
Goal 1 - Nice block by Roughhead from the boundary throw in., especially as he got a free for it when he was shepherding illegally. Swallow gets an elbow to the face at the same time. No decision for that.
Goal 2 - No contact to Franklin. Free kick!
Goal 3 - Massive push in Firritto's back. Way worse than hands in the back. Play on says the umpire.
3 goal = 18 points. Hawks win by 16 points. Enough said.
Here's the question - How much did the walking advertisement for abortion (the umpire) bet on hawthorn to win?
Any frustrated North Melbourne fans after the umpires beat us in the Hawks game?
i am a roos fan, and i think there were a few decisions that went our way too. it was a 6 goals to 1 last qtr, and that you must agree is not because of the umpires. the hawks are a good team this year, and franklin is hard to beat.
having said that, i think the hawks are still dirty on us kicking them out of the finals last year and they seem to belt us in the head everytime they play us. last time it was lewis, hodge and crawford. this time lewis and osborne. when will this obscene behaviour stop?
Reply:Now now, Micky malthouse, from what i seen on the telly, the hawks won fair and square, just checked the stats, you clearly had the better of the umpiring, having said that, it all depends where you get the kicks i guess.
mate, it happens to all sides and it won't make one bit of difference in the long run, it is annoying as i will probably doing the same thing today at the G. c'wood always get frees in front of goal. lets see if it happens again today.
look at it this week you have a walkover next week, you don't play. you just get 4 pts for a training run at the G on Saturday, i think Melbourne are supposed to turn up to be the witches hats for you blokes, LOL.
Reply:ok, lets put your umpring skills to the test infront of 40 000 people!
again, like I say all the time. You probobly saw that Franklin wasnt even touched after you saw the REPLAY! umpires dont get replays, they get a quarter of a second!
Reply:I am not a Roos fan and I was frustrated by the ump's efforts.
Corey Jones should have got a couple more frees inside 50.
It was a close contest by 3/4 time and I thought the Roos would be able to keep them out.
In saying that - to be fair the Hawks kicked 6 goals to Roos 1 in the last quarter.
I think you guys ran out of legs. A shame really because they had 3 injured on the bench.
Reply:Nothing to do with the Umps, the Hawks were just to good in the last term
Reply:All teams are subjected to rubbish umpiring - its just how the game goes unfortunately....
GO PIES....!!
Reply:Mate, Get over it.....................have a look at the replay of the first half again and see how many soft free kicks you got when diving forward and the 3-4 goals you got when Hawks were not paid frees (Ladson %26amp; Mitchell were beheaded when easy kanga goals were kicked). If you want any charity go to the salvo's, but then again they already probably prop your club up.
Reply:Whinge, whinge, whine, whine.... umpires are shite - get used to it!!! :-)
Reply:Every game has plenty of bad decisions for both teams, umpires (white maggots) don't get it right all the time - so too bad, you lost, get over it.
Reply:what was the free kick count huh 21 to 15 in favour of north we obviously work a lot harder in our forward line go hawks stop ya whinging north losers

Furnished Suites in Houston and Austin, TX?
Anybody knows of any furnished suites/apartments in Houston and Austin, TX?
I need to stay there for a month or so, but I am looking for something cheaper than, say, Residence Inn, Extended Stay America, Oakwood, Hawthorn Suites, AmeriSuites, Candlewood Suites, etc.
I am looking for something along the lines of "Budget Suites of America" [www.budgetsuites.com] where they have a weekly rate of about $199.00 in Dallas and San Antonio, TX.
Any Texas natives know of anything like that? Something that isn't a big, expensive hotel chain? Preferably not infested with roaches/rodents or in a rough neighborhood...
And yes, I'm checking Craigslist every day.
Thanks!!

How high can cows jump ?
Our fields got invaded again last night, this time the silly moo brought a few friends along and broke a couple of our internal ( tape) fences.
Thing is the cow fields have barbed wire fences ( on their side not ours) and we have a huge hawthorn hedge on one side and railings on the other. I can't find where they broke through unless they could jump over.
Farmer John couldn't find the place either, expecting to have them back to visit again tonight at this rate !
How high can cows jump ?
I watched a cow that perpetually got out, clear a 4 ft fence, jumped just like she was a well trained hunter jumper. Even her udder cleared just fine lol.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/s...
Theres a pic I have on my profile for you, I thought it rocked.
Reply:Young bovines can jump considerable heights if they really want to. My neighbour had young cattle in the field beside her garden the fences are 3'9". One of the stupid beasts cleared the fence into the garden, decided it didn't like the moss covering the lawn, hopped over a 2' rail, then cleared a 3'6" brush (quite wide) barrier of brush back into the field the other side of the driveway.
They are agile when young and their greed encourages them.
Reply:super high about as high as those jumping horses!
Reply:Cows usually don't jump very high, but if they get a running start and have some opportunity to "get air" like over a stone wall that they can climb you'd be amazed at the fences they can clear. They may have very well cleared it if it wasn't exactly shoulder height and if they're only 1/2 grown their not too heavy yet. If you cannot find a hole in the fence (I'm assuming it is wire and yours is tape...if I read right) the fence may have just given to their pressure and stretched then bounced back ie. they crawled through it; not broke through it, the hedges may not have broken, just ruffled. sometimes our herfords do it. Try making the fence real visible, since the cows will spook and run at the stupidest things, use surveying tape to mark the boundary and see if it helps.
Reply:they can jump over a 4 foot fence i watched a holstien cow clear the fence and she had no problem clearing it they will walk thru or go over any thing they want tell farmer john that he needs to pay for the damage that his live stock is doing to your crops farmer john might try a strand or two of electric fence on his side of where the are coming thru
Reply:I know a farmer whose cattle can jump over the top of slurry tankers. It depends on how wild of things they are. His are stone mad!
Reply:Over the moon according to the story.
Reply:This website suggests that cows certainly can jump - and quite high too.
http://www.wonderquest.com/cats-fiddles-...
I'm not surprised, as I have seen an eland (an antelope nearly as big as a cow) make enormous leaps.
Reply:Yes they could jump a fence.
see the song 'the cow jumped over the moon' wouldnt say that unless cows are jumpers when they want to be.
Reply:Over the Moon - apparently.
Reply:Actually cows can jump...and bull jump even better. I've seen a bull clear a 5ft fence...but I have heard of them jumping higher ones to get to the girls on the other side. Does the owner have pasture for the cows...if they are going over or through fencing...it's usually because of lack of pasture.
Reply:Oh yeah they can jump! now you have to figure out what their motivation is... Is one of the cows that is NOT invading your horse space perhaps bullying LOL! the others and a few smart ones have decided to join the equine herd? It might be worth staying up all night in watching to puzzle this one out. You'd think there's have to be SOME motivation for these ladies to leave their own herd...
I once had (a LONG time ago) a magazine article showing a man jumping his brown cow over a small jumping course, under 3 feet. He had a halter on only. LOL!
Good luck with your problem. Maybe the lead cow wants to be ridden too! ;-))))
Reply:they dont jump, they f**ckin fly !!!!!
Reply:A few months ago there was a story in Horse and Hound about a Farmer who takes his Bull hunting!
They are capable of jumping more the five feet high and a good spread. They can easily jump a big hawthorn hedge but are you sure someone isn't letting them through?
Good luck, this must be very frustrating for you all
Reply:in horse and hound mag there was a section about this man in the 70's and he had a bull which he took hunting!!!
he made it tack and there was a picture in there
he had a statement which made me chuckle
'he goes a good gallop and jumps a good 3 ft'
haha
so i dunno but that on did 3 foot! lol
Reply:Hey STRIPEY CAT! There was a person who used to join us in The Old Berkley hunt on a cow. A cow has been know to jump at least 4 feet BUT they don't run n jump, they do it from a standstill.
Reply:We used to have a Brown Swiss, and she could jump whatever she put her mind to. She was so bad, we ended up putting a tire around her neck to keep her from jumping.
Could the cows be getting out of their pen, cruising around then getting into your field from another way besides the dividing fence? I would walk the outside of your fence, looking for smashed grass and cow pies. Also, look at each side. Is the grass greener on your side or theirs?
Have fun with your new critters!
Mulereiner, what kind of shows do you go to??? That is a great picture!
Reply:cattle can jump very high. i am in rodeo and have seen 1400 pound bulls jump a 6 foot stock gate clean and some have gotten over 7 foot pipe fences.a good video to watch is the one where the bullfighting bull jumped into the audience(i think it is still on youtube)this will give you a good idea about cattle and jumping.
Reply:Usually they try to jump the fence and take down the top wire, but they can do a couple of feet or more easy.
If you have all those barriers in place I'd say there's a gap somewhere they're walking through, and coming down the road... follow the poop trail!! Sounds funny but it's true, where the manure line is that's where they came from.. LOL I've had to do that to take them home to the right dairy farm a couple of times.. :)
Reply:Goldie (a Big Herford with many calves and grandcalves) will jump my Uncles 5 foot gate in a flash just to go graze around the neighborhood and gossip over the fence with the brahma crosses in the next pasture over. She's tame as can be and he just goes out and rides her home but any time that picket comes untied she's going to make a break for it. They certainly could jump it and learn by watching another if they've got some guts and a little gumption. I really don't know what the farmer can do except maybe switch them to a pasture out of sight of yours, I'm assuming it's not going to be practical for him to tie them on picket lines although he might only need to stop the ringleader. Either way good luck and try to keep your sense of humor.
Reply:Those who say cows can't jump obviously know NOTHING about cows, and have no business answer questions they know NOTHING about. Just my opinion... :D :D
I don't see why your those cows are trying to cross your fense, though. We have extremely low barbed wire fences, in places less than 3 ft. On the other side would be scrumptious alfalfa, or corn. They never crossed over, though. Maybe our cows are just well behaved, atleast until shot time comes around. Then they jump 5 foot fences. Good luck solving the 'Moo' mystery
Reply:haha that's hilarious! You should camp out back there and try to take pictures of a bunch of cows jumping like 3 feet that would be so funny!
Reply:yes, cows do jump and they can pretty high!! Me friends grandpa owns a cattle ranch and we have seen cows jump the fences many times...also, has no one ever seen the commercial of the guy on a lawn mower and it shows a bull jumping a fence chasing him?. yes they can jump!
Reply:Welol having been in rodeos, worked my cousins dairy farms and see n cows in pasture running from cattle dogs I know they can actually jup fences fpretty easily. I have seen bulls at practice sessions in rodeos (thank God no seats were occupied) throw the cowboy off and then jump the arena fence into the stands, those panels are atleast 5 foot high! At my cousin's dairy farm cows that have never been put into the milking stoicks have gotten panicy and jumped their way out of those once again atleast 5 ft high though much harder for them to do as it is from a stand still. and well the fences all ranged in height but yupp I've seen 'em jump! Pretty cool actually. My cousins and I used to break their cows to ride for fun and we would try on ocassion to get one to jump a log but usually "under saddle" they were pretty lazy and laid back! lol Now they did have one cow that ripped her udder off after trying to jump a particularly high section of fence , found her with one leg caught in the barbed wire and he udder barely hanging on, needless to say she had to be put down and thta ruined us on trying to get the cows to jump b/c well being a Dairy Farm losing an udder meant losing profit. If they are coming back tonight stay out there and see if you can't video tape it!!! I know I'd love to see how they are getting through or over and I'm sure everyone else would too! lol
Ok MULE I have got to apparently ditch showing horses and just show Mules b/c you find some of the craziest pics I have ever seen, my little pony poodles , jumping cows and pirate saddles..... wowow Mule Shows must have awesome vendors at them!!!
Reply:Not very high considering how big they are
Reply:Well, cows usually don't jump but if they do, they do not very high. It depends on why they are jumping. I know one thing, they do not just jump for the heck of it. If they do, it is usually because they are being hurt or harassed by a human like if they are being branded. Hope I helped.

2001 AFL Draft...who would have thunked it?
ONE GLARING FACT oops, that stands out to me is there are no tiger players, and look at our history over the past few years. wonder why we never had a top 10 pick that year, 2000 we finished 9th, fools must have traded our pick away, 2001 made prelim, beaten by Brisbane who won the flag.
great list though macca, hey well done in our dream team match, i watched it live on the comp, our head to head, 35 points, thought i was goin to get up for a minute, we both lost ablett, my fatefull error was not taking nagle instead of daniher, wasn't sure nagle was playing, made him emerg, daniher 16, neagle 57, would of got ya by 6, decisions hey, good stuff though mate, now waiting till round 17 for arsenal.
Reply:Yea pretty good.... Hodge, Judd, Bartel etc
Notice that StKilda have or have had 7 of the top 23 in their list and of those 6 are still there. (Ball 2, Clarke 5, Dal Santo 13, Gram 19, Maguire 21 and Gardiner 23. Brooks 14 is the other one... also wanted to point out Brooks was draft to Port and later StKilda)
Plus the Saints have Montagna (Pick #37; as mentioned) and Adam Schneider (Pick #60)
Ash Hansen (pick #38) played for my junior footy club! :D
but then again so did Warwick Capper %26gt;.%26gt;
I would've also mentioned...
Steve Johnson (pick #24) - yea he has some problems but he's a good footballer
Campbell Brown (#32)
David Rodan (#33) - Come good for the Power! Richmond just has no luck!
Gary Ablett (#40 F/S)
Jarrad Waite (#46 (F/S??)
Adam Schneider (#60)
Brian Lake (Harris; #71)
Reply:Who would have thunked Bartel would be what he is, for example? Of those at the time, I had my eye on Sampi but it was always obvious where he'd end up. Ball looked good of course. I was surprised Dal Santo took so long to go. Judd I called 'over-rated' ... hmmm ok and I don't run a footy club.
Montagna was a bargain. Was that father-son or something.
Reply:Very Snazzy list.. I do agree with the swans not bein there and may I add a couple of Swan Brownlows to that list..
I tell ya whos not there... Blues and by geez did they suffer for the following years to come...
Well they got Juddy now with a twist of fate, so lets see if they can work some magic like Hawks and Geelong... oh
Doggies arent there and theyre building a fine 2008 season so far!
Reply:I have no thoughts on the matter.
There are some decent footballers amongst this lot %26amp; so there should be - they are top drafts. Plus there are some drop-kicks %26amp; some who are not so flash.
Not all kids with ability progress. Some have hearts as big as split peas %26amp; wont be any good at whatever they try.
8 Premiership Players
2 Norm Smith Medalists
2 Brownlow Medalists
3 Current/Former Captains
Not bad at all...
Brian Lake (Harris) was aslo a great pickup in the 70's
Reply:Awesome list there - with the amount of drafts St Kilda got, Im suprised they didnt win a flag (although they did improve somewhat).
I agree with Romper, glaring omission of Richmond in Top 10 draft picks...whats with that?
Reply:wow sammt was no 36 yeah cant balme hodgey being no 1 he is the 08 brownlow medalist
Reply:No sign of Sydney on that list and we still got a premiership and another GF appearance as well as the AFL president bagging us out at every turn. Vic got well looked after though....hmmm.....
Reply:It was a great draft, there have been none better since then
Reply:I didn't realise that and boy is that an impressive list!
Thanx for pointing it out to us!

Who thiks the AFL is not acting.?
When it comes to bringing the game into disrepute, the Eagles have it covered, more action should be taken, same goes for Hawthorn, hasnt that gone all by the wayside. even if you barrack for these two teams dont you want it cleaned up, for the good of your club and the game, before Hawk people get defensive, where theres smoke there is usually fire.\, why have the league and media gone quite on the 6-7 players who's names were released, legal reasons i know but come on, do something AFL.
Who thiks the AFL is not acting.?
I am WCE supporter %26amp; when I did not come out %26amp; publically support Ben Cousins, in here, re his drug involvement I was abused by another Eagles supporter %26amp; called a traitor for not giving my backing to him. I did not slate Cousins but said I was disappointed in him.
I have also received abuse from other members (all females, by co-incidence) for bringing this very same subject up. You have no idea the response I received for mentioning some of the Collingwood club's indiscresions!
It is getting a bit out of hand. The players are young; treated like little gods; are paid lots of money; have a lot of spare time on their hands; are placed in positions of temptation.......OK the clubs can't be there to hold their hands all the time - but when the players do something stupid, many of the clubs try to cover up the incident, or play it down to the public hoping it will be out of sight %26amp; out of mind.
The incident involving a player at a pub last Friday is a good indication.
Reply:this -b.c ,i will not use his name ,should be bared from playing club football any where ,he is so up himself , so -i am god i can do no wrong .not one ounce of remorse in the druged body he is the shame of the great game,%26gt;%26gt; bar him from any type of our great game , the AFL Report It
Reply:banned for a year you say?, who is to pay the bills for the support staff when they are left jobless or the other players careers when their lives are put on hold whilst playing in an extremely cut throat business
Reply:The AFL cannot watch their players 24/7. I think they are providing suitable drug education, impose curfews etc..
The players are usually the ones at fault.
Reply:What do you want the AFL to do?
They have in place a 3 strike policy, and until anyone breaches this then they cannot do anything. They came up with the legislation that says they cannot name the players that test positive, so they have to stick to their own rules.
And as for the clubs themselves, how can a football club prevent a player from going out in his own time and taking drugs? They educate the players better than any school or any parent does with their own kids, after that its up to the players.
